Introduction

The “Us and Them – Us as Them” cycle's wide-ranging discussions focus on both the Greek and international dimension of immigration.

Has globalization increased social inequality? What is certainly increasing is the gap between rich and poor states. At the same time, however, hundreds of millions of people are being given the opportunity to escape poverty. Are arguments that globalization could ultimately promote just development well-founded? And if they are, what are the chances of social justice winning out?

The “Us and Them – Us as Them” cycle is about immigration, a burning issue throughout Europe. The cycle’s wide-ranging discussions will focus on both the Greek and international dimension of immigration.
