Three pianists will play a section from Koumendakis' work "Messogios Erimos" [Mediterranean Desert] plus a classical piece of their own choosing whose style is somehow analogous.
Three pianists –Alexandra Papastefanou, Lorenda Ramou and Giorgos Konstandinou– will play a section from “Messogios Erimos” [Mediterranean Desert] plus a classical piece of their own choosing whose style is somehow analogous (Alexander Scriabin, Leoš Janáček, J.S. Bach, Maurice Ravel). The concert will end with the world premiere of the composer's work “A cricket in the blackbird's gorge”, for three pianists on a single piano, written especially for the concert.
“Messogios Erimos” (1998-2000), a work for solo piano, was commissioned by the Michael Marks Charitable Trust, and consists of 24 pieces which draw on the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean for their content.
