Introduction

An intensive workshop focused on the core principles of game design and their application.

Taking sci-fi games and the science fiction aesthetic as their starting point, the sessions will teach participants how to use suitable tools and the Unity game engine. Then, working in teams with assistance from the tutors, the participants will complete and present a game of their own.

The workshop is split into two sections: the seminars and the team project. The input sessions will familiarize the participants with the Unity software package and teach them the fundamentals of 3D environments and programming in C#. The elements taught at this stage are: Game Design practices, Unity Basics, Graphics, Animation, Physics, Sound Design, UI and Programming in C#. VR tools will also be introduced so any teams wishing to make use of them in their own games will be able to do so.
