As part of his contributing to the Onassis AiR community George Koutlis organizes a seminar on Active Analysis.
Active Analysis is a method of working on a text―while preparing its staging―developed by Konstantin Stanislavski and outlined and further advanced by his student, Maria Knebel. The analysis of theatrical plays and roles takes place through testing and improvisations.
The seminar offers a theoretical introduction to the basic tools of the method of Active Analysis and then their application to a scene from the play “The Seagull” by Anton Chekhov.
George Koutlis was born in Athens in 1989 and graduated from the acting department of Athens Conservatoire Drama School and the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He studied stage directing at the Russian University of Theater Arts GITIS (with Evgeny Kamenkovich and Dmitry Krymov) and holds a master's degree with distinction in stage directing from the same university (2019). He speaks English, Russian, and French. Koutlis is an Onassis AiR Fellow for 2023–24 through the Dramaturgy Fellowship.
