Introduction
A workshop which takes the body and movement as its starting points and puts the participants in other people’s shoes.
With the experience of participating in three earlier workshops under their belt, the mixed group of people with a range of disabilities continues this year in a more... philosophical frame of mind. When we look at an object, do we all see the same thing?
Inspired by a scene from the choreography Sweet Abyss, which was presented at the International Unlimited Access Dance Festival at the Onassis Stegi in 2015, we will this year be exploring our relationship with the world and our perceptions and interpretation of it. We will be attempting to see things in the round and distance ourselves from the certainty stemming from our own, limited viewpoint. We will be putting ourselves into others shores, "borrowing" their singularities (or disabilities) and filtering our own perceptions through theirs.
Taking the body, movement and group interaction as our starting points, we will be stimulating our imagination, feelings and minds while images and other external stimuli help enrich our kinaesthetic experiences.
