Age guidance

The Callasettes performance and catwalk are suitable for ages 16 and up.

One year after their exhibition at Onassis Stegi, we invite you to “Love Solidarity Death (L.S.D.): The Book,” a book presentation, an exhibition of artworks, and a performance that transports us to the psychedelic universe of The Callas and their twenty-year-long creative trail.

The Onassis Stegi Upper Stage morphs into a breathing installation and an event that includes the book presentation by exhibition curator Nadja Argyropoulou, as well as handcrafted clothes, an exhibition of artworks by The Callas from the Onassis Collection, and a live performance by the Callasettes.

How can one exorcize the past and shape the future? The answer is to create small utopias as weapons of resistance and survival.

In November 2022, The Callas landed on Onassis Stegi, bringing along an exhibition-cum-psychedelic spell to the past, present, and future of the Greek artistic and music scene, celebrating twenty years of their creative adventure.Their pop-folk embroideries and tapestries, the sculptures and installations made of marbles extracted from the old sidewalks of Athens, the frames with the working-class Madonnas, the Psychladic paintings made of spray colors, along with the Callasettes, return for the launch of a new chapter in the project entitled “Love Solidarity Death (L.S.D.)” and the forging of a unique book.

“Love Solidarity Death (L.S.D.): The Book” is a publication that captures the process that led to the titular exhibition by The Callas, gathering a bounty of photographic material, sketches and project notes, links from the exhibition’s documentation video, discussions, and texts by all those who got entangled into the diverse universe of the Ionas brothers: Nadja Argyropoulou, Afroditi Panagiotakou, Myriam Ben Salah, Ian F. Svenonius, Paul Artrocker, and Jim Sclavunos.

The Velvet Room Projects-released publication, with the support of Onassis Stegi, is a headlong dive into the universe of The Callas, performing an exploration of their artistic, musical, and film body of work, traversing the array of their influences and references to notions such as companionship, D.I.Y., collectivity, ceaseless creativity, the essence of need, and friendship.
