A portrayal of one man’s true journey through the heart of the American heartland. Filmed along the 240-mile route the real Alvin Straight took in 1994, from Lawrens, Iowa, to Mount Zion in Wisconsin, “Straight Story” chronicles the patient odyssey of Alvin and the people he meets along the way. When he’s not driving his lawnmower to his destination, Alvin meets a variety of strangers, from a teenage runaway to a World War II veteran. Sharing his life’s wisdom through simple storytelling, Alvin leaves an impression on these folks.
