This is the story of a brilliant young surgeon who meets a man so disfigured in a Victorian freak show that he is condemned to a life of degradation as a monster. The man is called John Merrick, known to circus goers across the country as the Elephant Man. Although there is no cure for Merrick, the young surgeon struggles to save him from decline and offer him a life of dignity and comfort.
