The saxophone and the piano bring together musicians, children and grown-ups; they all become one big crowd and create shapes and colours while developing their skills and learning the basics of music.
Musical instruments can play yellow, green or purple notes, and make sounds that turn into shapes! Children with mental disability, together with their parents, become one big crowd for a fourth year running, through the Onassis Foundation workshop “Come along, paint the notes!”
Guided by specialist educators and experienced musicians, we will get to know many different musical instruments and listen to well-known children’s songs and original melodies which we’ll turn into paintings. Through play, the children develop their language, listening and motor skills, and improve their ability to keep things in order in an environment tailored to their needs, while at the same time understanding basic musical concepts like rhythm, volume, pitch and melodic line.
