Introduction

Lena Kitsopoulou discusses her latest cooperation with the Onassis Stegi

"Antigone – Lonely Planet" marks the second major cooperation of Lena Kitsopoulou with the Onassis Stegi. In spring 2014, she presented her subversive version of the Grim Brothers’ fairytale, "Little Red Riding Hood – First Blood", immersing it in American splatter and Rebetiko songs. In 2015, she was part of the "Cherry Orchard" all-star team under the direction of Nikos Karathanos, which was performed on the Onassis Stegi Main Stage.

In Lena Kitsopoulou’s theatrical universe, Little Red Riding Hood is much more dangerous than the big bad wolf, Athanasios Diakos is a souvlaki joint owner, Ibsen’s heroines are mermaids and the Sophoclean myth encounters moments of a satirical and desperate “here and now”.

The conversation will be moderated by the theatre critic Grigoris Ioannidis.
