Forces of a city #1 | Frisly Soberanis
Curated by the Queens Museum
In this suspended reality, heightened by the pandemic, the forces of the city haven’t stopped. Filmed under the elevated 7 train, Soberanis' experimental audiovisual work slips between memories and reflections on the current moment in Queens.

In the middle of this crisis, the 7 line train has continued running. The fare is still charged, and the rent is still due. The train moves every morning and every night. It has moved families, workers, and even the virus.
While one part of the city works from home, the other rides the train to work. It seems that everything is going well. But the reality under the train is the opposite. There is a suspended moment before a drastic change. This is where we are.
