The “Sea Urchin” is a short fiction film by Alex Scholz, created during his studies at SAE Athens. It is the graduation project of Alexandros in film directing, as well as that of Nikos Pangalos in cinematography. The film follows a young man on one of his first visits to a nudist beach. The beach and his encounter with another bather will lead him to explore his limits even further, beyond bathing without a swimsuit. “Sea Urchin” premiered at the Drama International Short Film Festival in September 2023, as part of the International Student Competition Program, where it won the Distribution Award. Then it was screened in 2024 in Athens, at the Spicy Indie International Film Festival. Lastly, the film was among the five candidates for the Hellenic Film Academy’s Iris Award for Best Student Film of 2023.
