ADD, the biggest festival for contemporary electronic sound in Athens, returns May 25. This second edition marks an evolution in the creative partnership between six d.o.g.s and Onassis Stegi, a collaboration that began in 2014 with the “Pyjama Party” held as part of the Hypnos Project, continued to grow with “634 Minutes Inside a Volcano” on the island of Nisyros in 2016 and the “’80s Opening Party” thrown as part of the “GR80s - Greece in the Eighties” exhibition at Onassis Stegi in 2017, and most recently saw them organize the “Noises Off Street Party” in the Onassis Stegi neighborhood in October 2018.
On Saturday, May 25, Onassis Stegi and six d.o.g.s are joining forces for ADD 2019, reactivating spaces that have lain empty for years at the old Ellinikon Airport complex to create a living urban music environment. ADD 2019 will take place both indoors and outdoors across three stages equipped with the latest in sound system technology, with accompanying light and art installations designed specially for the event.
Onassis Stegi and six d.o.g.s are curating a program that covers a hugely broad spectrum of electronic sound, with DJ and live sets from more than 20 international and local artists: from electronic music legends Deep Dish and (Miss) Kittin to the rising star known as Nastia, and from Ben Klock, DVS1 and Detmann to indie darlings and Athens favorites Kiasmos and Forest Swords.
Onassis Stegi believes in forming partnerships, and regularly gets involved in both experimental and dance forms of electronic music. Constantly seeking out innovation, Onassis Stegi pays close attention to the city, and reaches out beyond the building it calls home on Syngrou Avenue in the firm belief that there’s culture to be found in every corner of Athens – a city ripe for endless discovery. And six d.o.g.s has for years now been a mainstay of the electronic dance scene in Athens, hosting major international artists while also giving representatives of the vibrant local scene opportunities to present their sound.
From dusk till dawn, from the past through the present and into the future of dance music, ADD is back and set to become a landmark stop on the European music festival circuit.
