Ásgerður Gunnarsdóttir

Dramaturg, dance critic, curator and teacher

Ásgerður Gunnarsdóttir has got MA in dance and theatre theory from the University of Utrecht and an MA degree in Practical Cultural Mediation from the University of Iceland. She has worked in the recent years as a dramaturg, dance critic, curator and a teacher within the field of contemporary dance in Iceland. She is on the board of Reykjavík Dance Atelier and co – curates Reykjavík Dance Festival with Alexander Roberts. She is currently an assistant professor in theater and dance studies at the Performing Arts Department at the Iceland University of the Arts.

Notable examples of award winning and award nominated work that Ásgerður has worked on, include nominations for DV’s Cultural Award for Dance for Reykjavík Dance Festival and Choreography Reykjavík, as well as Best Choreography for Crescendo and Shades of History winning Best Dancer at the National Theatre and Dance Awards of Iceland (Gríman).
