Yiannis Kranidiotis
Yiannis Kranidiotis is a Greek artist whose work explores the relationship between science and art, mostly through the use of light, motion, and music to create spaces and experiences in which all of these elements coexist and interact. He is fascinated by physical phenomena such as harmonic oscillation, natural repeatability, and wave motion, as well as the exploration and transformation of scientific data such as exoplanet attributes or the solar wind. As evidenced in the pieces “Plastic Sea” and “Climate Snake,” climate change and increasing plastic pollution of the world have also inspired his work. His practice is influenced by motion and interaction, data processing, and sonification techniques. This necessitates cross-disciplinary collaboration across disciplines and mediums such as sound, visual arts, coding, electronics, and physics. He graduated from the University of Patras with a bachelor's degree in Physics and holds an MSc in Optics from Essex University.
