Vicky Kyriakoulakou

Vicky Kyriakoulakou is a theater maker working as an actress, director, and educator. She combines in her artistic approach visual arts with pop culture, large and small scale, opera and performance art, philosophy and confession.

After graduating from the Department of Banking and Financial Management, University of Piraeus, she studied at the municipal drama school of Agia Varvara, and completed her postgraduate studies at Goldsmiths, University of London (ΜΑ at Performance Making). Shae has also studied music for ten years, dance, and singing. In 2015-16 she completed her studies at massage.

Vicky lives in Piraeus and works across Europe. She has co-founded and collaborates with the theater companies Nova Melancholia in Athens (since 2006), Vacuum Theatre, and Ferodo Bridges in London (since 2012). In 2012 she was nominated for the ‘Melina Merkouri’ theater prize.

Her work has been presented in various festivals and stages across Greece and internationally (Battersea Art Center, Arcola Theatre, Piraeus Municipal Theater, Edinburgh Festival, Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Philippi Festival, National Theater of Greece Experimental Stage, Athens Biennale et al.). During the past year, she wrote, directed, and played at the performance “The Art of War,” for the Onassis Stegi Future N.O.W. festival, and through this performance the core of her future works emerged.

She has taught acting to professionals and amateurs, teenagers, people over 65, as well as to inclusive groups of people (with mental or physical disabilities), who are her favorite students.
