Steriani Tsintziloni

Steriani Tsintziloni is an Onassis AiR program mentor for 2024-25.

Steriani Tsintziloni is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Theatre Studies, School of Philosophy, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, teaching Dance: History, Theory, Practice. She also lectures at the Performing Arts Postgraduate Program of the Hellenic Open University. Coming from a dance background, she combines academic research and artistic curation, writing, and lecturing, with a special interest in the Greek dance scene. She has lectured at the University of Patras, the Dance School of the Greek National Opera, as well as the Greek State School of Dance.

Steriani was also a curator for the dance program of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival (2016–2019), a Programming Associate for the Kalamata International Dance Festival (1998–2015), and a guest co-curator for the Onassis Young Choreographers Festival 2021. She also works as an independent curator involved in artistic and practice-based projects.

As a dance theorist or dramaturg, she has worked with artists such as Androniki Marathaki, Sofia Mavragani, Alexander Stavropoulos, Ioannis Mandafounis, et al. In 2020–2021, Steriani was selected for the Visiting Artist Program at Harvard University Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS Washington). She was a member of the Dance Selection Committee for the 2021 Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship Program, and served as Vice President of the Committee for Dance Founding of the Greek Ministry of Culture (2022-2024).

She has published in national and international journals, and presented her work in conferences. Her research focuses on the history of dance, knowledge production, materialities, and dance practices. Her monograph “Under the shadow of Parthenon. Dance in the Athens Festival of the Cold War (1955-1966) was published in 2022 by Kapa Ekdotiki and was short-listed for the 2023 National Literary Award.
