Spyridon Doukakis

Spyros (Spyridon) Doukakis completed his undergraduate studies in Mathematics at the University of Patras and the University of Amsterdam (with a scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation) and holds a second degree in Computer Science from the University of West Attica.

He pursued postgraduate studies in Computer Communications and Networks at Leeds Beckett University, Basic and Applied Cognitive Science in the joint degree program of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Athens University of Economics and Business, and Education Studies at the Hellenic Open University.

After being awarded a PhD in education with a focus on digital technologies at the University of the Aegean, he completed postdoctoral research in educational neuroscience at the Ionian University.

He serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Ionian University.

Since August 2023, he has served as President of the Institute of Educational Policy.

He has worked as head of an academic department and educator at the American College of Greece, as a special advisor for the professional development of teachers at the Institute of Educational Policy, and has taught in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Hellenic Open University, the University of Thessaly, the former Technological Educational Institute of Athens, the Athens School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (ASPETE), and the Hellenic Police Academy.

He has received a Fulbright scholarship for research in the USA and has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award by the Harvard Club of Boston.

His research interests include computer science teaching, educational neuroscience, distance education, and educational technology.
