Sofia Kamayianni

Sofia Kamayianni is a composer, musician and educator, whose musical interests cover a wide span. She has studied piano, classical percussion, contemporary composition, composition for theater and cinema, as well as mathematics, in Greece and the UK (postgraduate studies). She has worked with renowned music ensembles and orchestras (Kreutzer Quartet, Athens Camerata/Armonia Atenea, Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra, UMBC Symphony Orchestra, Rosarte children’s choir, Greek National Radio Symphony Orchestra, L’Αnima, Kroussis ensemble, etc.), and soloists. Sofia has composed songs, scores for several theater performances (for the National Theater of Greece, the National Theater of Northern Greece, the Municipal Regional Theaters of Patras and Kozani etc.), short films and video art, multimedia performances (also as director), dance pieces and installations. She has joined several music ensembles and troupes throughout her career, and has performed widely in concerts, festivals, music venues, and theater stages. She has collaborated with several institutions on creative educational programs (ERT/Greek Radio & Television, Onassis Stegi, Moraitis School’s Orff Schulwerk, Opera Studio in Patras, Nafplion Municipal Conservatory etc.). Sofia is co-founder of Spiza artistic society.
