Sofia Georgovassili

Sofia Georgovassili is a director and actor. She is a 2020 Stavros Niarchos Foundation ARTWORKS Moving Image Fellow. In 2018, she won the Best Newcomer Award at the Drama International Short Film Festival for “Preparation”.

“Memoir of a Veering Storm” –her latest short film, shot on 16mm film– had its world premiere at the 72nd Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival in 2022, as part of its Generation 14plus competition program, and has since gone on to screen at many more festivals around the world, winning more than ten awards along the way.

She is currently in pre-production for her first feature film, titled “Mignon” – a project selected for the 2018 ScriptLab at TorinoFilmLab, that won the ArteKino International Prize at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2019, and was awarded a Cinereach film development grant in 2020, among other honors.
