Shaheen Ahmed

Shaheen Ahmed is a researcher and filmmaker from the Malabar Coast of Kerala in South India. He has worked as a multimedia producer at The Caravan Magazine in New Delhi. Through his work, he explores themes of memory and identity, particularly focusing on the intersection of Islamic mysticism and collective spiritual fantasies. He is currently working on art projects based on the Sufi cosmos of the Malabar Coast and the Lakshadweep Islands in the Indian Ocean and developing a research project on South Asian Muslim migrant communities in Europe. He is a graduate of the DocNomads documentary filmmaking program based in Lisbon, Budapest, and Brussels.

Shaheen Ahmed is a participant of the Onassis AiR Extended Research Residencies program for 2024/25.
