Sarah Kenchington

Sarah Kenchington works as an artist, maker and musician, much of her work centers around human powered mechanics. For many years she has been working on an elaborate and constantly evolving pedal powered orchestra, made from mechanically assisted acoustic instruments. Her instruments, designed to explore the unsteady state, have a built in anti-virtuosity. It often appears as if the instruments are playing and the performer is being played.

Other projects include, large scale musical instrument commissions, experimental theater collaborations and teaching.
