A band that needs no introduction, for its enviable success and indisputable chemistry on stage. Having one sold-out gig after another, in every city and every venue, Planet of Zeus have gone beyond the narrow bounds of our country’s music scene, playing their heavy groove riffs around the world.

Their performance at Release Athens this year, along with Clutch and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, has been most memorable. The special bond of the Athenian heavy rock quartet with their audience is unique—their live shows leave no room for doubt.

Their debut album, “Eleven the Hard Way”, was even featured by Bruce Dickinson on his BBC radio show. Their following albums, “Macho Libre” and “Vigilante”, showed that they are here to stay, with such songs as “Leftovers”, “Vanity suit”, and “Vigilante”. “Loyal to the Pack”, with a clear focus on melody, has become their most successful album, while “Live in Athens” was yet further proof of their progress.

Their new album is the ideal soundtrack for the dystopian state of our planet, a heavy rock outburst. It also is their album with the most socio-politically engaged lyrics. As they said, they wrote this album “in a world dominated by irrationalism, where far-right politics and fundamentalism are gaining ground, while freedom of speech is in jeopardy.” Digitization, religion, pseudo-revolution on social media, addiction of all kinds.

The band opts for a “dirty” sound, creating a charged atmosphere to convey its messages. Heavy groove riffs, genius and whole, that remind us of Rage Against the Machine’s finest hours, MC5’s energy, and Queens of the Stone Age’s pop elements.

Their latest album has been released by the legendary Heavy Psych Sounds.
