Philippos Sakagian

Philippos Sakagian (b. 1992, Greece/Armenia) is a composer and artist. His work includes sound and light installations, performances, and an extensive catalog of orchestral and mixed works for electronic ensembles. Philippos holds a master's degree in composition and new technologies from the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) and is a graduate of the IRCAM Cursus program (2021–2022). He designs custom instruments and develops personal tools in Max/MSP, seamlessly integrating lighting design and spatialized sound into his works. Additionally, he performs live under the artistic name necrotrance. His works have been presented at prestigious festivals and institutions, including IRCAM (FR, 2022), GRAME (FR, 2024), the Greek National Opera (2021), the Athens Concert Hall (GR, 2021), Mixtur Festival (ES, 2020), Musée de l'Orangerie (FR, 2019), and Intonal Festival (SE, 2021). His work has been recognized and supported by institutions such as the Meyer Foundation, SACEM, the Jabès bursary, and the Tarrazi Fund, among others. He has received various awards, including the SACEM Composition Prize (2017) and the Hertzbreakerz Electroacoustic Composition Prize (2020).
