Peter Miller is a British-Barbadian poet and researcher. A recent graduate of the University of Cambridge, he specializes in Caribbean art and literature of the 20th century with a particular emphasis on the Caribbean Artists Movement (1966-1972). His MPhil thesis, “Ours is a beautiful landscape”: Aubrey Williams, Ronald Moody and Transnational Caribbean Ecology’, explores how climate-based practices are developed between national borders. Reinterpreting the orality that is central to Caribbean literary tradition, his poetry experiments with performance, ventriloquy and voice modulation. It attempts to rehabilitate the tacky, the boring and the queasy. Peter has written for Burlington Contemporary and performed for The Oxford Review of Books. He is a New Narratives awardee at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art. In March 2022 he curated Intimacies, after Vallotton at the Old Fire Station gallery in Oxford. He is currently a Young Changemaker at the Barbican Centre, London.
Peter Miller is a participant of the Onassis AiR Tailor-made Residencies program 2023/24.
