Pavlos Fysakis

Photographer

Pavlos Fysakis was born in Athens in 1969. He teaches photography at the Focus School of Art and is the artistic director of the Mediterranean Photography Festival. He is a founding member of the Depression Era artist group and the founder of the cultural organization KOLEKTIV8.

Since 1996, he has collaborated as a photographer and photo editor with various magazines and theaters, while he was Head of the Photographic Laboratory of the Rehabilitation Center ’18 Ano’ at the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica (2003-2015).

His works have been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad: Hellenic Centre for Photography, Biennale of Nice, Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens Cultural Olympiad, Thessaloniki PhotoBiennale, Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, 2nd Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art, Recontres d’Arles Festival, Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete, a.antonopoulou.art gallery, CAN gallery, Circulation(s) festival, Benaki Museum, Apollonia - European Art Exchanges, Beaux Art Museum.

His book "Land Ends - Photographing the Edges of Europe" was awarded as the best Greek photography book for 2010. His works can be found at the permanent collection of the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete, as well as in private collections.

Through photography, he tries not to forget. He insists that there is not enough time.
