Nuno Cassola (b. 1984) graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and completed a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices at the same institution.
Onboard the Grande Francia freighter, I crossed the imaginary Equator Line in May 2012, where I could see everything from its bridge, through a small gray device. A backlit display showed several digits in countdown, suddenly converting to a rising count as we crossed over.
In 2018, I crossed Jordan on foot, from north to south.
In 2019, I co-imagined, co-curated a film festival in the Jordanian desert of Wadi Rum.
In 2016, I co-founded Khora Αthens, a community center that has been operating ever since among many of its projects. Our social kitchen in Kypseli was one of the few social kitchens cooking during the first lockdown in May 2020, producing up to 1200 free meals on a daily basis.
In parallel to my practical activism and intercrossing/intermingling with theme and content, I continue working as a filmmaker and cinematographer.
Nuno Cassola is a participant of The School of Infinite Rehearsals of Onassis AiR 2021-22 and of the Tailor-made Fellowships program 2022-23.
