Myrto Nizami
Myrto Nizami (b. 1994), composer and pianist, is often inspired by poetry and painting, philosophy and the politics. In her music she seeks the fluid and airy plasticity of sound, while she explores the concepts of memory and musical quotation. She has composed music for small and large ensembles, orchestra, voice and electronics. She has also written music for short films and the theater. Her music has been presented in festivals and projects such as Soinua Iratzarri - Euskal Herriko Musika Bulegoa 2019 (Spain), Spring Festival 2019 & 2020 (Netherlands), Ref-Resilience Festival 2021 (Italy), Kruisbestuiving - ANNA3 2020 (Belgium), while she has received an honorary mention in the GICC 2021 composition competition in (USA). Currently, she is a guest composer in the Artistic Residence at Studio LOOS in collaboration with Kali Ensemble (NL). She has collaborated with musicians and ensembles such as Suono Giallo, Residentie Orkest, and Stolz Quartet, with the soprano Niki Lada, the percussionist Alexandro Ioannou and others. She studied piano, theory, and later obtained a B.Mus. in Composition from the Department of Music Science and Art (UOM, Thessaloniki) and a M.Mus. in Composition from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. From 2021 she attends the Electroacoustic Music Course of the Institute of Sonology. She was born and raised in Volos, Greece, and since 2018 she lives and works in The Hague.
