Marino Formenti –“a Glenn Gould for the 21st century“ according to “Los Angeles Times”– often conceives performances of a fairly different kind: durational, intercultural, and interactive concerts.

In “Nowhere” (Berlin, New York, Brussels, Lisbon, Oslo, Buenos Aires etc.) he lives, sleeps and performs non-stop for many weeks in the same public space. “One to One” (Art Basel, MaerzMusik Berlin, MEC Los Angeles) is an up to one day long performance "for and with" only one visitor. In “Triesterstrasse 66” he lives in a popular housing and makes music with its inhabitants. In the film "Schubert and I" he performs Franz Schubert with 5 different amateurs. His last concept-CD, "Liszt Inspections," was on the Top 10-Performances of “The New York Times” 2015 and the Top-10 Recordings of “The New Yorker” 2014.

He has been Artist in Residence at Lincoln Center (New York), Wigmore Hall (London), and Beethovenfest (Bonn). Marino Formenti has performed solo concerts and conducting at Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival, Wigmore Hall (London), Teatro alla Scala (Milan), and Salle Pleyel (Paris), and has been a soloist, among others, with New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, and with conductors Gustavo Dudamel, Kent Nagano, Franz Welser-Möst, Esa Pekka Salonen, and Daniel Harding. He has created works and installations for Palais de Tokyo, MUMOK Vienna, and Art Basel.
