Magda Bizarro

Magda Bizarro graduated in chemistry and before her work in the performing arts, she was involved in scientific research.
During the 1990s, she collaborated with several Portuguese theater collectives as a producer and stage photographer. Magda Bizarro co-founded Mundo Perfeito in 2003, where she was active as one of the leading creative contributors, working on more than 30 productions. Her work capacity is remarkable. Besides developing artistic ideas for a number of performances, she has worked on set design, costumes, communication, and dramaturgical development.
From May 2015 until October 2021, Magda Bizarro was the deputy artistic director at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II (TNDM II) in Lisbon, directed by the writer and director Tiago Rodrigues. From this position, she has assisted in the development of the emerging artists and international artistic programs, and built an extensive international network.
She was one of the curators of the Portuguese creative platform PT.21.
Magda Bizarro organized the national and international tour of plays produced by Mundo Perfeito and TNDM II, which included appearances in festivals and theaters worldwide.
In 2022, she was appointed one of the programming directors of Festival d’Avignon, where she primarily focuses on the international program.
