Little Things Orchestra

LittleThingsOrchestra is a nonprofit theatre company, located in Athens. The company was founded by the director Christos Theodoridis and the choreographer Xenia Themeli in 2009. In 2017, the actor Denis Makris joined the company.Strong collaborators with LittleThingsOrchestra are Tina Tzoka as a costume and set designer, Izabella Konstantinidou as a dramaturg and translator, Pavlos Soulis as a historical researcher/adviser and Anna Gomez as an executive producer.LittleThingsOrchestra first appeared with a devised production called Till the end at Bob Theatre Festival which was held at Chora Theatre in May 2009. Different versions of the production were performed at the following festivals: Proposals (Peiramatiki Skini tis Texnis, May 2010), Action Space: To act or not to act? (National Theatre of Northern Greece, June 2010) and the Perform in Art Festival at ElCulture (2010-2011).The Orchestra’s second production was based on the National Theatre award winning play Broken, by S. I. Chatziadamidis, which was performed in coproduction with Simeio Theatre in June 2011. After a second season of performances, the show travelled to Aneton Theatre in Thessaloniki for the 46th Dimitria Festival and also gained a nomination for best dramaturgy in a play, at the Karolos Koun Theatre and Art awards.In spring 2012, LittleThingsOrchestra performed the stage composition Parthenon -sparked by Christos
Chryssopoulos’ book The Parthenon Bomber– at TRAST. The show also travelled to Patras’ International Festival in June 2012. The second version of Parthenon was performed at K.E.T. throughout the winter of 2013.In December 2014, LittleThingsOrchestra presented William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, based on a new greek translation and commenced performances in Poreia Theater. Hamlet was invited and performed at “Melina Mercouri” Theatre in Thessaloniki.In 2016, the company presented for the first time in Greece, The Massacre at Paris, portraying the events of the Saint Bartholomew’s Day Massacre in 1572, in which thousands of Protestants were slaughtered by Catholics. The performance took place in the Festival of Athens and Epidaurus, two years in a row, on July 2016 and on June 2017.For the past two yearsf LittleThingsOrchestra is in the process of studying and translating the following Shakespeare’s history plays, Richard II, Henry IV (part one and two), Henry V, Henry VI (part one, two and three),Richard III and organizing acting workshops on each of them. The first result of this research will be the perfomance of the tragedy of King Richard the third.
