Iro Menegou
Iro Menegou is a performer and curator of original productions in contemporary music and musical theater, collaborating frequently with emerging composers. She is a founding member of the ensembles Pythia Trio, Metheξis, and Bouche Fermée. Iro has participated in concerts at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, the National Museum of Contemporary Art | ΕΜΣΤ, MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art, “2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture,” the Athens Conservatory, the National Theatre of Northern Greece, as well as in music festivals and concert venues in Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Cyprus, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, and Switzerland. She has worked as a curator and project manager at various festivals (Cyprus New Music Festival, Toyful, Τaratsa IFF, Pau Festival, Music Diaries, Synthermia), while in 2018, she created the Contemporary Music Festival “Women Composing in the Balkans” which was nominated for Classical:NEXT’s 2019 Innovation Award. She is a member of music networks and initiatives such as the European Music Council, SoundsNow, SuCarMuS, and Encore JMI. She holds degrees in Music Science & Art from the University of Macedonia and in Economics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a Piano Diploma from the Athens Conservatory (under Erato Alakiozidou), and a degree in Advanced Music Theory (under Evangelia Katelis). Since 2019, she has actively participated in the seminar “The Piano in the 20th and 21st Centuries” led by Lorenda Ramou. Iro is the Artistic Director of the Conservatory at “De La Salle” College in Thessaloniki and teaches at the Pylea-Chortiatis Municipal Conservatory, which she also represents as Coordinator for International Relations within the AEC network of Music Academies.
