Ioannis Melanitis
Associate Professor, Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA)
Ioannis Melanitis is an artist, theorist, and Associate Professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA). He holds degrees in painting, sculpture, and digital arts from ASFA and is currently a PhD candidate at the Athens School of Architecture (NTUA, his thesis entitled “Biological Dynamics in Art”). His artworks include installations, performances, bio-artworks, theoretical texts, critiques, poems, code-based web artworks, sculptures, oil paintings, and drawings. Exhibited worldwide, with works in private and public collections, he has also published essays on art and philosophy in English and Greek. His artworks and concepts have been analyzed in international editions such as “Art Tomorrow” (ed. L. Smith), “ScienceArt” by Lomonosov Moscow University, “BioArt” by Seung-Chol Shin, “Bio Art Practice Now” by Assimina Kaniari, “Arte Transgenica” by Mario Savini, “Mind the Gap: La vita tra bioarte, arte ecologica e post internet” by Elena Giulia Rossi, among others.
