Ignaz Schick

Artist, Composer and Visual Artist

Ignaz Schick is a sound artist, composer, and visual artist. In his youth he studied the saxophone, and also acquired a permanent obsession with multitrack tape machines, record players, and effect boxes, and started experimenting with various electro-acoustic set-ups and sound-making devices. For several years, he was assistant to contemporary German composer Josef Anton Riedl.

He is currently an active and integral force of the Berlin Nouvelle Vague and the experimental music scene. He also directs the experimental music label Zarek. In parallel to his performance practice, he has been making sound installations, experimental objects, visual collage, concrete poetry, and drawings. He has lived in Berlin since 1995.
