Giorgos Konstantinou

Pianist Giorgos Konstantinou graduated from Ferenc Liszt Academy in Budapest. He performs and teaches especially music from the 20th and 21st centuries (Koumendakis, Aperghis, Xenakis, Skalkottas, Ligeti, Kurtág, Feldman, Cage) and creates kaleidoscopic, semi-improvisational programs, with strong extra-musical references. He performs regularly in Greece and internationally.

“What I usually do, is to make fragments. I do break things; I create mosaics. In this concert I explore the meaning of making a musical homage to someone. An homage is a gesture. It is not a specific genre or form. I am not using a certain recipe; it is very free. I do not know what is going to happen in this program. It is very important that everything ‘sits’ on a frame, a net, which is ‘Herma.’ It is like I absorb everything, and everything is pinned on this central canvas, which is Xenakis’s piece.”
