Giannis Kakleas was born in Thessaloniki. He studied Drama at the Drama School of the Greek Art Theatre “Karolos Koun”.
He got a postgraduate degree in Drama from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art on London and graduated from the School of Direction of the Drama Centre of London.
He was the art director of Technochoros (1981-2003) and Municipal Regional Theater of Kalamata (1989-1991 & 2003-2006).

He has taught Drama and Direction, and he has translated plays (“Party time” by Harold Pinter, “Red Cross” by Sam Shepard, “Lord Byron’s Love Letter” by Tennessee Williams, “The Birds”, “The Frogs” and “The Acharnians” by Aristophanes, etc.)
