Bio

Effi Rabsilber is sharing her time between Greece and Germany.

She was born in Leipzig and grew up in Berlin. After her studies in performing arts in Munich, she started to play theatre as a freelancer in different cities (at HAU Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, Sophiensäle in Berlin, Muffathalle in Munich, Prinzregententheater in Munich, and Theater Freiburg, among others).

She took part in numerous festivals with her own performances, such as euro-scene Leipzig (Audience Award), Politik im Freien Theater in Berlin, Electric Renaissance Händelfestspiele in Halle, and Rodeo München. In Greece she was and is collaborating with theatre director Efi Birba (“Don Quixote”), choreographer Ioannis Mandafounis (“MayaBuff. A Mayakovsky Delirium”) and theatre director Christos Passalis (“The Book of Myself”), as well as with filmmakers Yorgos Zois and Elina Panik, among others. Recently, she performed with Lars Eidinger for the visual artist John Bock in his movie “Unheil / Mischieff.”

She is also working for the German television and radio.

Artistic Research

“…waiting for something, for someone, for the next moment to come, thinking about the future, when do I become finally? what? where will it happen? with whom will it be? will I be recognized? how will the weather be then? will I sit at the window? when does it start to be? when it will be done? will it be ever? have I done something wrong in the past? did somebody meet the future yet? where actually is now…?”

Lots of thoughts in peoples’ heads try to find out what the story is about.

Inspired by concepts about existence, Effi Rabsilber creates a solo performance using body, mind, voice and who knows what else…

What to do with the limits of the body and the mind? How to find the space within what we call “time”? Is there a Happy End?

Through an initiative of choreographer Ioannis Mandafounis, Effi Rabsilber is supported from the Ioannis Mandafounis company to create a new solo work, with full production and touring support provided by the company. Οnassis AiR will support the research phase of the new solo work through the Pilot (Inter)national Residency Program.
