Dimitris Stavrakas

Dimitris Stavrakas was born in Athens in 1938. In 1966, he made his first short film, “To gazi (The gas).” In 1979, he filmed “Betty,” which was shown in movie theaters before Federico Fellini’s “Orchestra Rehearsal.” In 1983, he made his feature film debut, “Misunderstanding,” which received the Best Feature Film Award at the Greek State Film Awards. In 1999, his film “The Canary Yellow Bicycle” won the Second Best Film and Best Actor awards at the Greek State Film Awards, as well as awards and prizes in festivals at Cairo, Isfahan, Huston, and Zlín. That same year, he also filmed “The Crossing” in Turkey and Bangladesh.
