Danya Hammoud is a choreographer and performer from Beirut. She earned her BA in Theatre from the Fine Arts Institute in Beirut in 2003, after which she studied dance at the ESSAIS program of the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine in Angers, France. She also received her MA in Dance Studies and Theories from Paris 8 University in France.

Her work has been presented at many international festivals and venues, such as: the Montpellier Dance Festival, Rencontres Choregraphiques de Seine Saint-Denis and June events in France, Tanztage Festival in Potsdam, Tanzquartier in Vienna, D-Caf Festival in Cairo, the Sophiensaele Theatre and HAU2 in Berlin.

Her performances include : “Mahalli” (2011), “Mes mains sont plus âgées que moi”  (2014),  “Il y a longtemps que je n’ai pas été aussi calme” (2016), and “To rest on a slope” is her latest performance to date, and was created in Beirut (2017). Currently she is working on “Bootlegged”, a collaboration with South-African choreographer Boyzie Cekwana, to be premiered in December 2018.

She was awarded the Boghossian Foundation Prize for Choreography in Lebanon in 2016.
