Paul Koutselos

Paul Koutselos is a composer interested in observing a sonic environment and experimenting upon the process of capturing it. He believes that the rich and diverse nature of sound, be it inside a river, a car engine, a pot of bubbling stew or wind blowing on trees, is an infinite source of musicality and expression. Spontaneity and intuition are also important parts of his compositional process.

His compositions, that make use of acoustic instruments, digital processing, synthesised sound and field recording, strive to put the listener in an alert, explorative and meditative state, where sound occupies their full concentration, stimulated by the piece’s sonic nuances and/or its larger form.

Paul holds a BA in Music from the University of Bristol and an MSc in Sound Design from the University of Edinburgh. He also holds a DipABRSM diploma in Clarinet performance. https://soundcloud.com/paul-koutselos
