Alina Tenser

Alina Tenser is a Ukrainian-born multi-disciplinary artist and educator working in Maspeth, Queens, NY. Her practice spans sculpture, video, performance, and interactive engagement.

Tenser received her BFA from School of Visual Arts and her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards including Dedalus Foundation Emerging Artist Fellowship and the Emergency Grant from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. Tenser has held solo exhibitions at Crush Curatorial, New York, NY; 17Essex, New York, NY; Konstepidemin, Gothenburg, SE; Soloway Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; AIR, New York, NY; Nurture Art, Brooklyn, NY; and Pioneer Works, Brooklyn, NY. Her work has been exhibited at venues such as MoMa, New York, NY; Queens Museum, Queens, NY; The Kitchen, New York, NY; Susan Inglett Gallery, New York, NY; Hesse Flatow, New York, NY; The Suburban, Chicago, IL; Kate Werble, New York, NY; and High Tide, Philadelphia, PA. She has taken part in many art residencies including Recess Sessions, The Queens Museum Studio Program, Vermont Studio Center, The Carving Studio, and most recently Interlude Residency. Her work has been widely reviewed and written about in publications such as “The New York Times,” “The New Yorker,” “Artforum,” “Bomb,” “Cultured,” “Hyperallergic,” “Brooklyn Rail,” “The Third Rail,” and “Modern Painters.”

She is currently an Assistant Professor at SUNY Purchase College.
