Alexandra Karagianni

Alexandra Karagianni is a lawyer and human rights defender. She was born in 1989 in Athens and studied law at the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2020, she entered a postgraduate program on “National and Union Administration” at Panteion University in Athens.

She is an expert of the Council of Europe and has worked with many national and international organizations such as the Hellenic Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

She is an active civil society member and is the first elected woman on the Board of the Panhellenic Confederation of Greek Roma “ELLAN PASSE”, where she holds the position of Special Secretary for Human Rights.

She is a member of the Greek National Committee for Human Rights (NCHR) and a representative of the Racist Violence Recording Network.

The main thematic areas of her work include the access to justice, the empowerment of Roma youth and women, the protection of minors, and combating statelessness and multiple discrimination.
