Athens connects to New York. Onassis Stegi and NEW INC, the first museum-led cultural incubator, founded by the New Museum in New York, are organizing a mixed realities masterclass. On November 20th & 21st, artists from all over the world who work with augmented or virtual reality (AR/VR) will have the chance to participate in a workshop for the creation of new tools, techniques, practices, and materials, for the development of their professional practice.
Wednesday November 20th | Masterclass

During day one, participants will warm up their creative muscles and get hands-on experience with some of the leading edge creative and technical techniques being used in AR, VR and tech-enabled materials, and will learn to use digital and physical materials in order to create their own worlds and narratives. Pioneering artists New Reality Co, Wearable Media and Sarah Rothberg will share their experience and expertise, and will help them create new hybrid and affective environments. As a group, the artists will explore what it means for technology to assist in embodied experience by enlivening our senses and offering multiple pathways for engagement, redefining the boundaries between physical and digital.

Masterclass: 09:00-17:00

Thursday November 21st | Masterclass & Talk

On the second day, participants will apply their technical learnings to a design challenge that culminates in a prototype. Together with the mentors, they will ground this creative process in the business realities of today’s art and technology landscape, finding the best means for the delivery of their final product.

Masterclass: 09:00-19:00

Talk: 19:00-21:00

*The masterclass and talk will take place in English, without interpretation.
