These are the Iris Awards 2024 on the Onassis Stegi Main Stage

The Hellenic Film Academy celebrated another year of Greek cinema with a vibrant ceremony full of glitz and fun at the Onassis Stegi Main Stage, presented by the charming Yannis Niarros. Sofia Exarchou's film "Animal" was the big winner of the evening, while Dimitris Papadimitriou won Best Original Music Score award for "Murderess" and Onassis AiR fellow Aristotelis Maragkos took home the Best Short Animation award for "Kafka's Collection of Porn." In a touching moment, Willem Dafoe was greeted with thunderous applause when he accepted the Best Actor award for Vasilis Katsoupis' film "Inside."

Taking home seven awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Film Director, and Best Screenplay, as well as Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for Dimitra Vlagopoulou and Flomaria Papadakis, Sophia Exarchou's "Animal" was the evening's big winner.

Next came Eva Nathena's "Murderess," which received five awards (Best Costume and Best Production Design, Eva Nathena; Best Cinematography, Panagiotis Vasilakis; Best Original Music Score, Dimitris Papadimitriou; and Best Make-up and Hair, Evi Zafiropoulou and Chronis Tzimos); and Vasilis Katsoupis' "Inside," which won three awards, including Best Actor for Willem Dafoe. Both Dafoe and renowned film producer and former president of the Hellenic Film Centre Giorgos Papalios, who received the honorary award for his contributions to Greek cinema, were warmly applauded.

Onassis AiR fellow Aristotelis Maragkos, who had previously received the Onassis Film Award 2023 (AIFF), won the Best Short Animation award for his film "Kafka's Collection of Porn," demonstrating Onassis Culture's willingness to invest in new talent that contributes to the growth and appeal of Greek cinema.After the success of his hit musical "Matchbox" on the Onassis Stegi Main Stage, Yannis Narros returned to host the glamorous 2024 Iris Awards ceremony, which was directed by Asimina Proedrou.
