Singer, musician and writer Giannis Aggelakas holds a special place both in our hearts and our record collections. As a founding member of the rock band "Trypes" and the creator of some of the most popular Greek rock songs of all time, he has demonstrated that he does not fit into genres, rules, or labels. Giannis Aggelakas' "Electric Chair" concert, which took place last June at the City of Athens Lycabettus Theatre, premieres at the Onassis Channel on YouTube, directed by Christos Sarris. A historic live performance that looks back on his legendary journey to the present day.

Joining him on stage are 100°C, the polyphonic ensemble Dioni, and a string trio. Together, they will take us on a musical adventure featuring songs that span Giannis Aggelakas’ entire career, as well as a selection of his film scores. The concert was held as part of Rockwave Nights 2024.

Giannis Aggelakas & 100°C

Formed in 2015, 100°C quickly found their creative spark collaborating with the iconic Giannis Aggelakas. They have been performing and recording together since 2016. Since then, they have performed extensively both in Greece and abroad. The infectious energy of their live shows transforms each performance into a vibrant celebration, creating a unique bond between the band and their audience. So far, they have released two albums with Giannis Aggelakas, "Isycha Tragoudia gia Anemela Livadia" and "Eho Kefia."

The presentation of "Electric Chair" at the City of Athens Lycabettus Theatre is of historical significance, as it marks the final collaboration between Giannis Aggelakas and 100°C, shortly before their summer tour came to an unexpected end in July 2024. In an official statement, he said: "We discussed it and decided not to make it public, wanting to enjoy our final tour in Greece while avoiding the naive or cunning games of never-ending, dramatic farewells. Unfortunately, we had to end it a little earlier than planned. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the band and all of you, with whom we shared so many wonderful nights over the past nine years. When the time comes, I will return with a different format. Until we meet again."

City of Athens Lycabettus Theatre
It is one of the most important landmarks of Athens, located right in the heart of the city. On September 15, 2023, the historic City of Athens Lycabettus Theatre, which had been an institution of Athenian culture for nearly five decades, reopened its doors, fully renovated, with a rich artistic program inspired by its panoramic view. The Lycabettus open-air theatre was the artistic vision of actress Anna Synodinou and was realized by pioneering architect Takis Zenetos. From June 12, 1965, until 2008, it hosted a wide range of cultural events, attracting a varied audience. Fifteen years later, the iconic theatre is poised to enter a new age, adhering to modern European standards while remaining true to its creator's original vision.
Rockwave Nights 2024

With over 3 million attendees, Rockwave Festival has grown from a romantic vision into a cultural institution, firmly establishing Greece in the global concert scene. As it gears up to celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025, we reflect on its incredible journey: from its beginnings in 1996 in Drapetsona to Freattyda and Agios Kosmas and finally at Terra Vibe, Rockwave has hosted nearly every iconic act imaginable: R.E.M., Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Robbie Williams, Guns N’ Roses, Moby, Arctic Monkeys, Lana Del Rey, Manu Chao, Massive Attack, Nick Cave, The Prodigy, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Oasis—the list goes on. In 2024, the festival took another bold step forward with the launch of Rockwave Nights.
