A/Live from Alepochori on the Onassis Foundation's YouTube channel. In the new STAGES A/LIVE concert, Σtella introduces us to her vintage-flecked pop music and transporting us to a "new" adolescence that we have never experienced with lyrics about the conflicting emotions of love set to music that you can't stop dancing to. Σtella’s performance, filmed at the iconic Cariocas Beach Bar in Schinos beach and directed by Christos Sarris, will bring us closer to summer.

Stella Chronopoulou was born and raised in Athens, but she sets no boundaries to her art. After completing her studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA), she began her music career with brief stints with My Wet Calvin and Expert Medicine. She made her studio debut in 2014 as part of the Fever Kids duo, and has since released two solo albums (“Σtella” in 2015 and “Works For You” in 2017, both on Inner Ear). With ten years of experience in the music industry, she is now represented by an American label whose roster includes legendary names like Beach House, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, and Mudhoney. The same historic label that once discovered Nirvana.

"Stella with a sigma" unexpectedly put Athens on the world map of the indie pop music scene. The pandemic may have temporarily halted things (as it did for the global music industry), but it did not discourage her. In early 2020, Σtella released "The Break" on Canada's Arbutus label before releasing her fourth full-length album through Sub Pop, a renowned record label in pop culture history.

"Sub Pop is elated to announce the signing of Greek Artist, Σtella to their iconic roster of artists. Hailing from Athens, Greece, Σtella has proven herself a strong storyteller, an old-school pop paean to the pangs and raptures of love," the label said on the occasion of the first Greek female songwriter to join its roster.

The album “Up and Away”, which was recorded in Athens and London, was produced by Redinho (Tom Calvert) in collaboration with the composer. Now, “almost” live from Alepochori, Stella takes to the Cariocas stage to immerse us in the world of her exultant pop music.

Cariocas Beach Bar

A beach bar in a seaside fishing village on the Corinthian Gulf has become a destination for artists from all over the world. Cariocas opened in Schinos in 1998 and quickly established a distinct presence in the country's concert scene. The combination of the handmade wooden beach bar by the sea, the incredible sound, and the freedom to dance is unmatched by any other venue. Cariocas is known for one of Greece's most successful rock music festivals, "Under the Sun," which has hosted internationally acclaimed and emerging artists such as Brant Bjork, Nightstalker,1000mods, VIC, Planet of Zeus, and others. But that’s not all. Dozens of other Greek and international artists, including Frankie Knuckles, David Moralles, Louie Vega, Dj Harvey, Ron Trent, Carl Graig, Timmy Regisford, and Joe Claussel, have helped Cariocas' House on the Beach parties become the most successful and longest running in the country. Cariocas, a one-of-a-kind beachfront bar, continues to host both musicians and audiences with the same love and integrity as it did on its first day of operation 16 years ago.

Stages A/Live

STAGES A/LIVE began in January 2021 as an initiative of the Onassis Foundation for the support of independent music venues in Greece, wherein a series of filmed live performances directed by Christos Sarris raised the volume of the digital stage of the Onassis Channel on YouTube. Three years and 3,321,744 online views later, major names from all the genres of the contemporary Greek and international music scene are online. From the traditional sounds of Psarantonis and the pop tunes of Marina Satti to the Planet of Zeus’ heavy rock and Saske’s rap; from the alternative rock of Pavlos Pavlidis and Bazooka and the raw rock’n’roll of Nightstalker to Michalis Siganidis and Larry Gus’ experimental music, Constantine Skourlis’ noise, and Mikros Kleftis’ and ATH Kids’ hip-hop sounds; and from the Afrobeats of Pongo and the punk energy of Laura Jane Grace and Thrax Punks to Naxatras’ psychedelic rock, STAGES A/LIVE knows no boundaries. For the 2023–24 season, STAGES A/LIVE is attended by a live audience and is a female affair, presenting four unique and exciting femininities of the present.
