AntetokounBros Academy 2020-21: Enroll now

It doesn’t matter where you start from, but where you can go. The Academy returns for the second consecutive year and is preparing for an exciting new journey.

AntetokounBros Academy, the basketball and education based venture created by Giannis, Thanasis, Kostas and Alex Antetokounmpo, returns for the second consecutive year and will feature 100 children, boys and girls aged 12-16, from vulnerable social groups, different neighbourhoods, countries and social backgrounds. The students will play and learn how to unleash and develop their potential.

The Antetokounmpo brothers strongly believe in the power of sports and are committed to providing opportunities to those who need them most. All four brothers have experienced for themselves how hard work and dedication can lead someone to the top.

The AntetokounBros Academy is executed in partnership with Nike whose mission is to inspire kids to develop through sport, the Eurohoops Organization, which leads the implementation and training program, and the Onassis Foundation, which, through workshops, speeches and scholarships inspire and encourage the participants. The entire curriculum instils in the young people the values that the Antetokounmpo brothers advocate.

Anastasia Kostaki laid the first bricks at AntetokounBros Academy as Head Coach and, after a very successful year, she gives her turn to Evina Maltsi. An international athlete, who has made history in women's basketball, she has accepted the challenge and is ready to pass on her ethos and knowledge.

The Academy’s program includes weekly basketball trainings implemented by the Eurohoops Organization. It takes place in the two stadiums renovated by Nike in the neighbouhoods of ​​Ellinorosson and Lamprini, with the support of the Organization of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA). The program is not limited to the four lines of the court. Following the successful first season, a series of workshops will be held at the Onassis Foundation. Experiential workshops, theoretical game analyses led by the Eurohoops coaching team, and inspirational speeches by renowned athletes and professionals from various fields of action encourage the participants and foster their skill development and empowers them to reach for their dreams.

For both the training and the educational part, the Academy has taken all the necessary measures and implements the health protocols and instructions of the National Public Health Organization (EODY) and the General Secretariat of Sports in order to limit Covid-19.

The Academy culminates with a graduation and awards ceremony. The best of the 100 athletes will have the opportunity to claim two annual training scholarships at the Eurohoops Organization, while four participants will be selected to attend summer courses in England. The top performing Academy graduate will receive a university scholarship “One of a Kind” by the Onassis Foundation.

The junior coaches at the Academy are also working toward unique opportunities. Two of the Academy coaches will be selected to participate in further education, one will win a job at Eurohoops and one will attend a basketball training camp abroad with the support of the Onassis Foundation.

The applications to win a place among the 100 young athletes of the Academy and the 7 junior coaches of the 2020-21 season have started! Candidates will be evaluated based on social and economic criteria, as well as their performance in the try outs.
