A factory of experiences in the industrial zone of Agios Ioannis Rentis. The Onassis Foundation transforms the former KOCH plastics factory into Onassis Ready, a new hub for artistic expression, experimentation, and exploration. With a total surface area of 3,760.89 sqm, the new building of the Onassis Foundation’s dynamic ecosystem hosts works by the iconic artist Takis from the Onassis Collection and is transformed into an underground club as part of the Borderline Festival, presenting two special nights of electromagnetic intensity and energy.
It was in this building that the research of the project “Xiromero/Dryland” was born and developed—which represented Greece at the 60th International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia.
Having already hosted—as a construction site—the stage productions of “People and Mice,” “Ares,” and “The Red Lanterns,” directed by Vassilis Bisbikis, the rehearsals of “Prometheus” by Nikos Karathanos, the “Climax” ball in collaboration with Léa Vlamos, and having inspired Lena Kitsopoulou to create her own “Frankenstein,” Onassis Ready is looking forward to embracing the artistic creation of the Onassis AiR/ONX Fellows—building a bridge between Athens, New York, and the post-digital world, and hosting artists who are looking for a new space to develop and rehearse their works in Athens.
