How does the radio narrative change in the age of the Internet of Things? How does creation for radio respond to smart systems and non-stop connectivity? How do new technologies change the definition, composition, aim and scope of the traditional radio drama, for example?
“Radiophonics” program features works created via an open-call that took place in 2016, curated by Christos Carras & Theodoros Chiotis, as well as new ones conceived during the pandemic.
We are now immersed in a digital environment that teaches us to see in high-resolution: our sight is enhanced and augmented by digital technology in ways unforeseen. But what about the way we hear? How does technology impact on the stories currently being told, the stories we hear? How can technology assist us in telling these stories? Radio drama used to be a unique experience: the first interactive medium of telling stories. Given recent technological advances, what might sound like today a work written specifically for radio?
