Vassilis Kourbetis

Dr Vasilis Kourbetis leads the research program “Deaf Adults as Role Models for the Hearing World: Links of the Same Chain” which is realized in the context of Erasmus+ by the Hellenic Federation of the Deaf (leader), along with six partners in three countries. The project aims at training deaf adults to become mentors and teachers of sign language to hearing adults. At the same time, it aims at training hearing adults – mainly parents – to develop awareness about the competencies and skills of deaf people, the use of sign language, the communicative and psychosocial development of the family, and the use of digital skills.

The project aims to bridge the visible gap between the world of deaf and hearing people through accessible and open educational tools and practices, as well as planned activities in learning environments accessible through the national sign language and international signs interpretation.
